Our grinding shop runs high-precision cylindrical and centerless grinding systems:
Parts are mounted between carbide centers. The grinding wheel (CBN or Alumina) rotates at high speeds while coolant is sprayed. The CNC system monitors the diameter using in-process auto-gauges (Marposs system). When the target dimension is reached, the wheel automatically retracts and executes a spark-out cycle.
“In-process auto-gauging adjusts for wheel wear and thermal expansion, allowing us to hold diameter tolerances within 3 microns across thousands of parts.”
Grinding journals are inspected in our metrology lab. We measure cylindricity, taper, roundness, and surface finish. Using roundness testers, we verify that journal roundness is held under 0.5 microns, preventing motor vibration in EV powertrains.
PMT Cylindrical Grinding: Precision cylindrical grinding cell finishing bearing journals to sub-micron tolerances.
Palmary Centerless Grinding: Centerless grinding machine finishing outer diameters of shafts at high throughput.
