Continuous Generating Gear Grinding & Skiving
For modern high-speed electric vehicle (EV) motor powertrains, noise reduction is critical. Srimukha operates continuous generating gear grinders to finish gear teeth after heat treatment, eliminating micro-roughness.
Gear Finishing Machinery
Our finishing division operates advanced generating gear grinders and skiving machines:
Grinding Process Workflow
The hardened gear is loaded into the machine. The grinding worm wheel (a threaded wheel matching the gear profile) synchronizes with the work spindle. As they rotate, the grinding wheel feeds axially, grinding both tooth flanks. This process eliminates distortion caused during heat treatment, restoring tooth geometry.
“Continuous generating grinding achieves DIN Class 5 gear quality, which eliminates tooth contact noise in high-speed electric vehicles.”
Gear Profiling & Quality
Finished gears are analyzed for pitch error, lead error, and profile crowning. We measure surface roughness on the tooth flanks, holding Ra values under 0.15. Analytical gear charts are generated on CNC gear metrology instruments.
