High-Speed CNC Gear Hobbing
With over 30 years of experience, Srimukha has established its core competence in High-Speed Gear Hobbing of armature shafts for the motor industry, lending itself into a noiseless future for motors.
Srimukha’s gear cutting division manufactures high-precision spur and helical gears for automotive transmission and starter motor pinions. By using German technology, we cut tooth profiles at high speeds (>300 m/min) and profile accuracy (DIN Class 7).
CNC Hobbing Equipment Fleet
Our gear cutting shop operates 8-axis CNC gear hobbing machines:
- 18+ EMAG Koepfer K-160 CNC: High-rigidity 8-axis CNC gear hobbing machines with automated loading, dry-cut, and wet-cut capabilities.
- 20+ EMAG Hydraulic Hobbers (K-153, K-143): High-speed gear cutting machines with auto loading features.
- HAMAI High Speed Hobbing: Fast setup hobbers for small batch gear blanks and prototype development.
Hobbing Process Workflow
Srimukha exemplifies excellence in utilizing advanced solid carbide technology, deploying premium carbide hobs from industry leaders such as Gleason, Schnyder, and SAT Tools(China). Gears are clamped on high-rigidity hydraulic collets/expanding mandrels to eliminate runout. The CNC program synchronizes the rotation of the workpiece and the carbide hob cutter. The hob cutter feeds axially, cutting the spur/helical tooth profiles. Parts are automatically deburred and brushed before unloading.
Skiving Capabilities
Srimukha uses German technology and are capable of achieving DIN Class 7 after heat treatment, using SKIVING technology – wherein all inaccuracies and distortion during heat treatment is removed, which aids the motor manufacturing for a noiseless application. Above state-of-the-art process is being used mainly on Automotive Steering Pinions for leading OEMs.
“Carbide hobbing technology allows us to cut gear teeth at high speeds, holding DIN Class 7 quality standards directly from the machine.”
Metrology & Gear Inspection
Gears are inspected for pitch error, lead error, profile error, and runout. Testing is conducted on Klingelnberg CNC Gear Tester/Tokyo Technical/Genertec HMTC China CNC gear measuring instruments. Analytical gear charts are generated for every production batch.
Carbide/HSS Hob Re-Sharpening
Srimukha has exclusive State-of-the-art carbide hob CNC re-sharpening machines which ensures DIN AAA class hob for every re-sharpening, thereby ensuring consistent quality and high tool life.
